A Simple Reflection: Becoming Living Water This Lent

In the Gospel, Jesus meets the Samaritan woman at the well. He speaks to her with kindness, even though others would avoid her. He does not judge her past. Instead, He offers her “living water” — new life, forgiveness, and hope. After encountering Jesus, she leaves her water jar behind and runs to tell others about Him.

In our daily lives, we are called to do the same. As volunteers, priests, parishioners, and all who serve the Church, we are invited to reflect the love of Christ in the way we speak, act, and serve. The Church becomes a beautiful house of the Lord not only because of its walls or decorations, but because of the people inside it — people who show mercy, patience, humility, and joy.

When others see our unity, kindness, and sincerity — especially those who are struggling in their faith or who have not yet come to know God — they may begin to notice something different. They may see Christ living in us. Our actions can become the “living water” that gently draws their hearts closer to faith. Like the Samaritan woman, may we leave behind our pride, anger, and selfishness. May we share the love of Jesus not only with words, but through good example.
